Big Sur

I spent a few days last week in Monterey and Big Sur.  Some of the time was spent driving and dodging rain showers and snow storms.  But most of the time was spent exploring, relaxing and taking photos. I stayed at the Big Sur River Inn, and could have spent all day sitting outside in the chairs along the river (or as my friend said - re-arranging the chairs into patterns to take pictures - isn't a photo of well placed chairs the ultimate "still life"?)

Of course Ranger Duck from Yosemite came along for the drive and had his picture snapped in prominent locations - here shown looking out on the coast near the Big Creek historic bridge on Highway 1.  Other popular sights where R Duck might have been spotted were at Grimes Point - looking for condors (none seen) and along the Nacimiento Fergguson road - looking for elk (saw only cows, no bull!)  There are not many wildflowers blooming inland from the coast - at least not yet, and hopefully the rains from the last week will help bring a late spring bloom.
